OAPN: Ohio Arts

Good meeting with Ohio Arts Professionals Network (OAPN: their web site here) last night.

I was glad to see such a variety of arts professionals there. Some I knew already: Brent Kirby, the singer-songwriter and Cleveland arts advocate; Diana Chittester, the hot new star; Charlie Mosbrook, representing FolkNet and FARM. Others were a thrill to meet: Russian balalaika virtuoso Oleg Kruglyakov and his pianist partner Terry Boyarsky; songwriter Taylor Lamborn; CLE Urban Winery owner Destiny Burns; classical violinist turned entertainment lawyer Anna Kelberg-Kim; Carlos Jones photographer-roadie Mark Mindlin; and Cool Cleveland columnist Anastasia Pantsios.

Anyone, who thinks Ohio — and especially Cleveland — isn’t hopping as a center for performing arts, hasn’t bothered checking the arts calendars, and would be well-advised to attend an event like OAPN’s.

Congrats to my friend Jessica Rosenblatt on the promotion to Executive Director! I’m sure she and OAPN are a good fit to make both grow.
